Highway 8 collision with semi-truck kills 19-year old Calgary man

Chase Kenneth Alan Hudye of Calgary has been identified as the man who died Thursday afternoon after the vehicle he was driving collided with a semi truck on Highway 8. The accident comes just one day after a fatal collision involving a semi truck and a small car on the same roadway.
The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m., on Highway 8 near Range Road 34, west of Calgary.
Corporal Gary Fedrau of the Cochrane RCMP says Hudye was heading east in a pickup truck when he crossed the centre line and hit a westbound semi truck head on.
The driver of the semi attempted to avoid the collision by maneuvering onto the shoulder of the roadway, but the two vehicles collided.
Chase Hudye was thrown from the pickup and was then struck by a second westbound vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
No one else was injured.
Cochrane RCMP closed down Highway 8 to allow for an investigation into the collision. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
Highway 8 has since been reopened.
