Pepsi machines have been raided at a number of hotels across Canada
Edmonton Police are warning hoteliers across the country to be on the lookout for what they’re calling a team of “soft drink suspects” who target Pepsi machines in hotels.
Scott Pattison of the Edmonton Police Service says the thieves break into the pop machines and make off with the cash. Over the August 10-11 weekend, the soft drink thieves targeted two hotels in Edmonton and managed to get away with over $2,000.
“We’ve been in contact with police agencies across the country, and confirmed this isn’t merely a one-time crime,” said Const. David Crisp, with the EPS Southwest Division. “We would like hoteliers across Alberta, and the country, to be aware that these individuals are purposely targeting Pepsi machines in hotels.”
On Monday, August 13, police believe the Pepsi thieves broke into ten pop machines at a Calgary hotel. They thieves are not staying close to home as police believe they have also broken into soda machines in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba as well as the Calgary and Edmonton capers.
Anyone with any information on the soda pop scoundrels is asked to contact the EPS complaint line at 780 423 4567, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or your local police agency.
