Strathcona County RCMP locate over $130K worth of allegedly stolen goods, including a school bus

Four people arrested and charged in connection with thefts

Strathcona County RCMP bust up second theft ring and recover stolen school bus

After announcing earlier today that Strathcona County RCMP busted a theft ring and located over $170,000 in stolen goods, Constable Wally Henry of the RCMP says the Strathcona County RCMP have made yet another substantial bust and recovered a number of allegedly stolen, high cost items.

This time, the busts were at rural properties in Strathcona County and Beaver county, near Tofield.

At the two properties, police seized a number of allegedly stolen items from across Alberta and one item from Manitoba including :

  • Caterpillar Skid Steer valued at 20,000.00, stolen from Red Deer
  • Two large heavy duty industrial utility trailers valued at 15,000.00 stolen from Edmonton
  • Numerous chain saws valued at $2000.00 stolen from various locations
  • Industrial Generator valued at $37,000.00 stolen from Edmonton
  • Semi-automatic rifle and ammunition.
  • Numerous traffic control signs, stolen for Strathcona County Transportation Department
  • Two Yamaha all-terrain vehicles valued at $15,000.00 stolen from Selkirk, Manitoba and Red Deer
  • International School Bus, valued at $30,000.00 stolen from Leduc
  • Industrial wood splitter, valued at $5000.00, stolen from Sherwood Park

28-year old Skip Davison, of Tofield, Alberta has been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000.00, four counts of possession of stolen property under $5000.00, three counts of altering or removing a vehicle identification number, theft under $5000.00 and breach of probation, relating to previous theft offences.  He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.

David Spilchen,25, also of Tofield has been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000.00, three counts of possession of stolen property under $5000.00 and fraudulently concealing property.  He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on August 8, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.

23-year old Kassandra Schimmens of Sherwood Park has been charged with two counts of Possession of stolen property over $5000.00 and unsafe storage of a firearm.  She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on August 8, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.

Barry Clarke, 24 of Tofield has been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000.00 and three counts of possession of stolen property under $5000.00.  He too is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on August 8, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.

Constable Wally Henry of the Strathcona County RCMP says that “While the stolen items are similar in nature, RCMP believe that there were three separate groups of individuals involved in these incidents and all are not inter-related.  To date, six search warrants have been executed and a total of six people have been charged”.

Between the two busts, the total value of all property seized is in excess of $400,000.00.

    But do they always get there man?i can honestly tell you that half of this police report is false the skid steer was borrowed from the neighbor and when the rcmp raided one of these properties the nieghbors came and got there skid steer the rifle was not loaded it was in a corner with a clip as the owner was just moving in … Kassandra only guilt in this matter is being a home owner who rented out a room to help with expences the room mates friend was involved in this and had brought a trailer over for Sara to borrow and all of a sudden this all happens to a hard working well educated young lady who was just living her life who had no part of any crime and now what does a young girl do that has her name smeared all over the meadia with false statements..and not to mention how the rcmp ran through the property with four wheelers through a horse pen running a horse through the fence with horrible injuryes that will need months of vet care who will cover these costs and Kassandra isnt part of a group there is no group the rcmp has put all these cases together.This is a total waste of are tax payers money these are not the criminals they are targeting here its inocent people …just to make them look like they are doing there job correctly…POUR POLICING THANKS LISSA COUTURE
