Police still investigating Morinville crash
Highway 2 at the intersection of Township Road 554.
A 53-year old woman is dead after the car she was driving hit a commercial van that pulled out in front of her on Highway 2 near Morinville, Alta. Friday afternoon.
Around 3:10 p.m. Morinville RCMP, Alberta Health Services EMS and Sturgeon County Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 2 at the intersection of Township Road 554, just south of Morinville.
Morinville is a town of 8,500 people 35 kilometres north of Edmonton.
Investigator say a westbound cube van hauling tools proceeded from the stop sign in front of a northbound mid-size car.
he driver of the northbound car, a 60 year old female from Parkland County area, was transported to hospital where she later passed away. Cause of death is not available at this time, according to police.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Two passengers of the same vehicle were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
The driver of the van was not injured.
The driver of the van has been charged under Traffic Safety Act for failing to proceed safely from a stop sign.
RCMP say the collision is still under investigation.

this intersection is dangerous….it was just a matter of time that this happens. town of morinville will hopefully wake up now and start on finishing their road they began last year!!!!
