Edmonton Eskimos cornerback Joe Burnett has been named Gibson’s Finest CFL Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the victory over the BC Lions on Friday night.

In addition to registering three tackles in the game, Burnett intercepted BC Lions quarterback Travis Lulay twice, including a 108-yard return for a touchdown at 6:05 of the fourth quarter.

Burnett was a key contributor as the Edmonton  Eskimos moved into a tie for first place in the West Division with a 27-14 win over the BC Lions.
