Every two years, the Alberta Summer Games allows young athletes to sport their best work on a provincial level. It is a multi-sport competition, fifteen different sports to be exact, but for the sake of this article outdoor soccer is the focus.
This amazing tournament divides the Province into eight zones. Over the weekend, each zone will be represented by one U13 Boys and one U13 Girls soccer team. The Calgary Minor Soccer Association was happy to send a boys and a girls U13 team to compete in Lethbridge. Calgary falls under Zone 3.
Friday was an action packed day for Calgary Minor Soccer players.
Daryl Leinweber, executive director for the Calgary Minor Soccer Association, shared some game details.
In the morning, both teams brought their best feet forward and came out on top. The Calgary girls under 13 team won 2-1 against the Parkland (Zone 5) team. The boys won 6-0 against the NW (Zone 8).
