Albertans get 90 minutes to voice opinions

MLA Mike Allen wants to hear through telephone what you have to say about their efforts.
Albertans concerned about Highway 63, the so-called Highway to Hell that links Alberta oil sands with the outside world and has captured Canada’s attention because of the many horrific motor vehicle accidents, will be able to discuss the topic during a telephone town hall Thursday.
Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo MLA Mike Allen will host the forum at 7 p.m. to gather public input as part of his research as Special Advisor on Highway 63.
The event gives Albertans 90 minutes to provide their input directly by calling 1-877-229-8493 and then providing the access code 19425.
“In the weeks since Premier Redford appointed me to this very important task, I have met with many groups, individuals and stakeholders to hear their ideas for highway safety,” says Allen.
“This telephone town hall is a good way to reach people from across the province who care about highway safety and want to have their thoughts heard.”
Input is being sought on the key theme areas of infrastructure, enforcement and education over the short, medium and long-term.
All listed telephone numbers in the Fort McMurray region will receive a direct invitation via telephone to participate in this call. These invitations will be sent to their telephone numbers in advance, then those
people who wish to participate will be contacted and connected to the town hall just prior to the start of the event.
Albertans can also use social media to provide their thoughts and ideas about how to improve the safety of Highway 63 by leaving a message on Allen’s Facebook page at facebook.com/mikeallenmla or on Twitter via @Mike_Allen47 using the hashtag #safe63.
