Groping incidents not linked to recent sexual assault, say police

Suspect in Erin Woods groper investigation is a Caucasian man in his mid 20's
Update: District 4 detectives investigating these cases are in the area today conducting inquiries. District mountain bike members and patrol units are also in the neighbourhood.
Calgary police are looking for a man in his mid-20s, dubbed the Erin Woods Groper, believed to be responsible for two ”groping incidents” in the city’s southeast.
The most recent case occurred Tuesday around 3 p.m. in a park near Erin Meadows Green S.E. A 49-year-old woman out for a jog was approached from behind by a man who groped her. The man then ran off.
A similar incident occurred 5 p.m. June 7 when a 56-year-old woman who was working in the front yard in the 0-100 block of Erin Grove Bay S.E. was groped by a man. The man also ran off after the incident.
In both cases the suspect is described as Caucasian, 25 years old, 5’7” tall, with a slim build. He was wearing grey pants and a dark shirt.
It is not believed these incidents are linked to a recent sexual assault on June 17.
The Calgary Police Service would like to remind Calgarians to be vigilant about personal safety, especially when out alone:
- Stay in busy, well-lit areas and avoid dark, deserted places.
- If possible, avoid being out alone.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Develop a safety plan: let someone you trust know where you are going, and when to expect you back.
- If you are suspicious of someone, trust your instincts. If you are approached by a stranger, do not engage in any conversation and proceed to the nearest safe or public place and report the incident immediately.
If you see anything suspicious, call police at 403-266-1234 or call 911 to report a crime in progress.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
