Chad Frere terminated from his job, threatened to kill staff
Chad Alain Frere from Trochu held police at bay for five hours
Three Hills RCMP were involved in a five hour standoff at the home of a man police describe as suicidal.
Sergeant Joe Sangster of the Three Hills RCMP says 38-year old Chad Alain had recently been fired from his job and he subsequently made threats to kill staff members at his old work site.
As police were investigating the threat complaint, Chad Frere refused to come out of his home in Trochu and would not cooperate with officers.
Three Hills RCMP then called in the Red Deer Emergency Response Team to assist in getting Chad Frere into custody.
After a five hour standoff, Chad Frere was taken into custody and fortunately, no one involved was injured during the process. Frere is now facing two counts of uttering death threats and one count of assault.
During the standoff, a family member managed to breach the containment area at the scene and was also taken into custody and is facing multiple charges which will be laid in the near future.
