Canada’s birthday is a great way to revive a CFL rivalry, as the Montreal Alouettes visit McMahon Stadium to kick off the 2012 Canadian Football League regular season against the Calgary Stampeders.

The Stamps and Alouettes met twice in 2011 with Calgary coming out on top both times. On August 27 at McMahon, the Stampeders prevailed by a score of 38-31.

In the rematch at Montreal’s Percival Molson Stadium on Oct. 30, the Red and White claimed a 32-27 decision.

The Calgary Stampeders were 2-0 during pre-season action, posting a home-field win over the Edmonton Eskimos and a road victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Both games were decided by field goals on the final play of the contest.

Montreal was winless during the tune-up round as the Alouettes dropped games against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts.

The first 2,500 fans through the gates on Sunday will receive “Go Stamps Go” thunderstix.

The Calgary Stampeders will host a Canada Day Kickoff pre-game bash in the east parking lot from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m. This will feature a vocal rock-country music band. Admission is free with a Stamps ticket and barbecue will be available for purchase.

Be there to get your autographs and photos with Stampeders players and Outriders.
