Redcliff traffic stop sends two to jail
Redcliff RCMP allegedly found and seized a cache of marijuana, a shotgun and a large amount of ammunition during a traffic stop on the Trans Canada Highway.
Constable Joseph Domenic Broccolo says after the driver was pulled over during the traffic stop, the police officer did a check on the man. The check showed that the suspect, Adam Sprout of Saskatchewan had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. Amelia Cote-Tremblay who was traveling with Adam Sprout, was also arrested.
After arresting the man and his companion, police then searched the vehicle and found twelve pounds of pot, a 410 gauge shotgun and a large quantity of ammunition. Police estimate the value of the drugs seized to be approximately $70,000.
Both remain in custody and are facing multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Cote-Tremblay and Sprout will be appearing in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Tuesday, May 8.
