Suspects flee but tracked by HAWC helicopter

Two suspects were arrested Wednesday evening after robbing a northeast Calgary Totem Building Supplies store and assaulting an employee who tried to stop the thieves in the parking lot.
Around 8:15 p.m. the Calgary Police Service received a complaint of a robbery at the Totem Building Supplies located at 4215 Edmonton Trail N.E.
A man and woman suspected of stealing tools were confronted in the parking lot by the manager. They assaulted him and made their escape in an SUV.
This vehicle was later spotted on 16 Ave. N.W. but the driver refused to stop for police. The HAWC helicopter followed the vehicle as it drove erratically up to Market Mall where the female suspect was dropped off and subsequently arrested.
The male suspect then drove to Northhill Mall where he dumped the vehicle and was subsequently taken into custody.
Detectives from District 3 will be handling this investigation, according to the CPS, and charges are pending.
