Suspects arrested in Edmonton bank robberies not connected

The Edmonton Police service has arrested and charged three suspects in connection with a number of recent Edmonton bank robberies.

Over this last weekend, EPS Robbery Section and EPS Northeast and Downtown divisions made the arrests in connection with eight bank robberies and one attempted bank robbery.  The robberies took place between March 19 and April 21, 2012.

Even though all three suspects were arrested on the weekend, there is no connection between the suspects who were nabbed by police.

“We were successful with these robbery files because of the efforts of many individuals,” says Staff Sgt. Howard Kunce of EPS Robbery Section. “This is an excellent example of teamwork between many different areas of EPS, the employees of the affected financial institutions, and members of the public.”

Edward Allen Truhamchuk, 48, has been charged with five counts of robbery and one count of disguise with intent. Truhamchuk was taken into custody on April 20, 2012.

48-year old Edward Ricardo Kociancic, has been charged with two counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery. Kociancic was picked up by police on April 21, 2012.

Leon Kenneth Muskwa, 45, has been charged with one count of robbery for one of the Edmonton robberies.  In addition, police executed six Canada-wide warrants for robbery in other jurisdictions and one Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large. Muskwa was taken into custody on April 22, 2012.
