Witnesses report vehicle speeding on Anthony Henday Drive
South Edmonton crash claims life of man in late teens or early 20's
Edmonton Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Anthony Henday Drive and 91 St., during the early morning hours of Friday, April 27.
The accident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found the driver of the Chevy Malibu and the only person in the car, deceased.
Witnesses told police that the Malibu was heading eastbound on Anthony Henday Drive at a high rate of speed when it lost control and veered onto the centre grass median. The car then struck a light standard.
Police are not releasing the identity of the victim, but are reporting that the driver was a male believed to be in his late teens or early 20′s.
So far in Edmonton this year, there have been twelve traffic fatalities.
