On March 30, a bank in Invermay, Saskatchewan was allegedly held up by an armed man, believed to be Tyler Leeder, last known to be from Lethbridge, Alberta.  Invermay is located about 250 Kilometres east of Saskatoon.

The robbery occurred around noon at a bank in Invermay.  RCMP officers from surrounding detachments including Kamsack, Rose Valley, Wynyard and Punnichy all responded to the scene and set up several road blocks in the area.  Police believed Leeder and a possible female accomplice were traveling in a white, Ford super duty pickup truck.

On April 1, at approximately 7:30 p.m., an RCMP officer with the Beiseker detachment stopped a Ford F350 pickup truck for speeding through the town of Irricana.  Sergeant Patricia Neely of the RCMP says the truck was bearing an Alberta licence plate, WVE 943.   Police believe there were multiple occupants inside the truck when it was pulled over.

After stopping the truck, the driver of the pickup, alleged to be Tyler Leeder, immediately reversed and struck the police cruiser, causing significant damage to the front end.  The driver of the truck attempted to flee the area, but the RCMP officer managed to give chase, in the officer’s damaged car.

The truck eventually stopped again, and as the RCMP officer got out of his car, the driver of the truck again reversed the vehicle.  From a significant distance, he backed up and rammed to police cruiser, this time the crash disabled the car.  Fortunately, the officer was able to avoid getting hit by the truck; he got back into the cruiser before it was struck.

The pickup truck then fled the scene.  The injured RCMP officer was taken to hospital in Calgary where he was treated for his injuries and released.

The investigation so far, has revealed that the plate on the truck was stolen from a business in Redcliff, Alberta, a town just west of Medicine Hat, on the Trans Canada Highway.  The white pickup truck was reported stolen from Perdue, Saskatchewan, a town 65 Kilometres west of Saskatoon.

Tyler Leeder is described as a Caucasian man, with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes.  He is 5’9″ tall and weighs about 155 pounds and may be traveling with a female accomplice.  He has distinctive tattoos on his neck, including a Canadian flag and the word “Alberta” as well as significant tattooing on both hands.

Airdrie RCMP are hoping the public can assist them in finding Tyler Darrell Leeder, last known to be from Lethbridge, Alberta.  Police are also asking the public to assist them in locating the 2002 white Ford F350 pickup truck.  RCMP warn that Leeder is believed to be armed and dangerous and advise the public not to approach Leeder, but to call police.  Call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 8477.
