Police believe suspect may be same man responsible for attack on Friday in Calgary

assault

Employee of Travellers Inn attacked outside hotel

A suspect in custody for an assault on an employee of the Travellers Inn in Calgary, may also be the suspect in a break-in and attack in Bowness on Thursday night, where an 86-year old woman was injured.

At about 2:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 17, an employee of the Travellers Inn, located on 16 Ave N.W., was approached by a man in the parking lot of the hotel and asked for a cigarette.  The employee declined and turned to go back into the hotel when the man attacked from behind.  The hotel employee cried for help and a staff member was able to help.

The suspect then ran inside the hotel and began rummaging through the hotel’s front desk.  Staff members and hotel guests were able to apprehend and hold the suspect until police arrived.

The suspect is now in police custody.

The description of a man suspected of breaking-in and attacking an 86-year old woman at her home in Bowness is similar to that of the man caught at the Travellers Inn.  Police are investigating to determine if the two events are related.
