Blackfalds RCMP were called to the scene of a two vehicle collision south west of Red Deer at about 6:30 a.m., on Tuesday, February 21.

Corporal Barry Larocque of the Blackfalds RCMP detachment says the accident occurred on Highway 2A between Springbrook and Red Deer.  A man driving a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was heading north on Highway 2a when he crossed the centre line and struck a southbound garbage truck.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries while the garbage truck driver was not injured.
