18-year old Karlee Williamson dies in Edmonton hospital
None of the victims wore seat belts
Three people died at the scene of the two vehicle crash on the evening of Monday, February 20, and now a fourth, Karlee Williamson, has passed away in hospital.
18-year old Karlee Williamson of Sunny Brook Alberta, was airlifted to hospital in Edmonton after the crash near Alsike, a town 100 Kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
Corporal Rod Klenk of the Breton RCMP says the accident occurred on Monday night at the intersection of Highway 39 and Rural Route 40. Police believe the car Williamson was in sped through a stop sign and was t-boned by an pickup truck heading east on Highway 39.
The three other victims of the crash are 20-year old William Saunders of Edmonton, 21-year old Spencer Gustafson of Breton and 15-year old Morgan Hetchler of Breton. The driver of the pickup truck, a 31-year old man from Stony Plain, was taken to hospital in Edmonton and treated for minor injuries and released.
Police believe that none of the occupants of the car were wearing seat belts. The investigation is continuing in partnership with the Medical Examiner’s Office in Edmonton.
