Pot and growing equipment seized
32-year old Daniel Richard Dejong has been charged after Rocky Mountain House RCMP were tipped about a large marijuana grow operation southwest of Rocky Mountain House.
Police obtained a search warrant and in the early morning hours of February 9, along with Green Team, Calgary ALERT, Calgary RCMP Drug Section and Calgary Police Service, officers began to search the man’s home.
In total, police allegedly seized 959 marijuana plants that were in various stages of growth and police estimate the potential value of the pot to be $1.2 million, according to Corporal Bob Schultz of the Rocky Mountain House RCMP. Officers also allegedly found and seized a large amount of harvested, dried marijuana and elaborate growing equipment.
Daniel Richard DeJong has been charged with cultivating and possessing marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
