Gatleak Metkurjock died at Calgary house party
Calgary Police are investigating the murder of 20-year old Gatleak Thor Metkurjock who was critically injured during a house party in the southwest.
At around 2:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 25, police and emergency services were called to a home in the 2100 block of 16 St S.W., after a witness saw a man falling to the ground in front of the home. Metkurjock was taken by EMS to hospital in serious, potentially life-threatening condition. On Thursday, January 26, Gatleak Metkurjock died from his injuries.
According to Staff Sergeant Doug Andrus of the Calgary Police Service, while the victim was in hospital and as his condition worsened, the CPS Homicide Unit became involved in the investigation. So far investigators believe that this was not a random incident as Metkurjock was at a party at the home and knew the other occupants of the home. Police have yet to identify a suspect and are continuing to follow-up on the investigative information.
An autopsy was performed on Friday, January 27. The cause of death has been determined to be blunt force trauma.
