A 29-year old man from Calgary was killed when he was hit by two vehicles while walking on Highway 9 near Irricana just after midnight on Saturday.
The man was initially struck by one vehicle and then struck again by another vehicle as he lay on the highway. Police provided first aid for the man and then when paramedics arrived, they took over the care of the victim. Sgt. Patricia Neely of the Beiseker RCMP says the man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Beiseker RCMP are anyone who may have noticed a grey 4 door vehicle parked on the side of the southbound lane of Highway 9 near Range Road 270 between midnight and 1 a.m. It is believed that one passing vehicle may have stopped and offered to get gas for the stranded vehicle.
RCMP believe alcohol is believed to be a factor in the first collision.
