Quest Theatre isn’t kidding about affordable theatre for kids

Calgary’s Quest Theatre is offering families a limited engagement presentation of Jason Long’s new play for young audiences, Just Kidding, with family-friendly ticket pricing.

Just Kidding will have four public performances over three days. Through the support of Telus, families will be able purchase theatre tickets at much reduced rates.  Tickets for children aged 12 years and below are priced at $8, while tickets for teenagers and adults cost $10. A family pack of four tickets is also available for only $25.

Just Kidding portrays relationships and conflicts at a young age.

“We are pleased to present Just Kidding with the generous support of Telus as the Community Performance sponsor.  Just Kidding is a great opportunity for families to experience a play together.  Connections and reflections are part of the experience of seeing a play and it can bring families closer together.  Quest Theatre is thrilled to be engaging in our community in this way,” says Quest Artistic Director Nikki Loach.

Just Kidding is the story of Matthew and Benny, best friends who do everything together: class projects, film adaptations of their favourite Chester Chumley adventure novels, and joking around.  But now that the funny new girl, Lynne, has joined their team, Matthew isn’t laughing anymore.  Just Kidding is an entertaining way for kids to examine friendships, conflict, and the fine line between joking and bullying.

Just Kidding is an original work written by Jason Long, directed by AJ Demers and featuring performances by Devon Dubnyk, Braden Griffiths, and Carmela Sison.  Additional creative team members include Sara Trachsel (Stage Manager), Erin Bauer (Apprentice Stage Manager), Deitra Kalyn (Set/Costume Design), Dewi Wood (Sound Design), and Graham Kingsley (Production Assistant).

Just Kidding runs from October 7 to 9 at the Big Secret Theatre in the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts.   Show times are 7.00 p.m. on October 7, 12.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. on October 8, and 12.30 p.m. on October 9.  The October 9 performance is an excellent opportunity for families to do something special before heading home for Thanksgiving feast.  Advance tickets are available online at www.questtheatre.org.
