Northern Alberta youth charged in stabbing death

Jesse Noskiye, 17 has been identified as the young man who was stabbed early on September 11 in Desmarais, a town 320 Kms north of Edmonton.  Noskiye was killed in the fight with another youth around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Desmarais RCMP were called out to the scene behind a home where Noskiye had been stabbed on Alberta Road in Desmarais.  When they arrived they found the victim suffering from a stab wound.  Noskiye was transported to the local Wabasca Health Care Centre where he was pronounced dead.  He was taken to the health centre by a family member who made a positive identification of the victim.

The suspect was at the scene when police arrived.  He was subsequently arrested for murder by RCMP in Desmarais.  He had to be treated for injuries sustained in the fight and was then put in the cells at the Desmarais Detachment.

An autopsy was completed on Jesse Noskiye on Monday.  The procedure confirmed that Noskiye died as a result of a stab wound.

The accused has been charged with second degree murder and has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Desmarais courthouse on Thursday September 15.  The accused is a youth and his name will not be released.
