Arrest warrant issued for woman in arson investigation

Calgary Police are looking for a 30-year old Calgary woman who is wanted in relation to a fire that occurred last year.  The CPS Arson Unit has issued a province-wide warrant for Jessica Irene McCallister.

Police allege McCallister started a fire in a basement suite of a home in the 1500 block of 48 St S.E.  Investigators believe McCallister was the tenant in the basement suite and she allegedly started the fire which caused approximately $218,000 in damages.  The investigators believe there was an ongoing feud between McCallister and the upstairs tenants and she was also going to be evicted from the home because of non-payment of rent.

The house fire occurred on April 12, 2010.  Emergency personnel responding to the home found the residents of the main floor of the house had evacuated the home and smoke and fire was seen coming from the basement of the home.

Fire crews managed to knock down the fire quickly, limiting fire damage to the basement suite, but the rest of the house suffered extensive smoke damage.  The house has since been declared condemned and will have to be demolished. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze.

A province-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jessica Irene McCallister, 30, for three counts of arson.  McCallister is described as Caucasian, 5’ 7” tall, approximately 175 lbs., with brown hair.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, or the whereabouts of McCallister is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:  TALK: 1-800-222-8477  TYPE: tttTIPS.com  TEXT: tttTIPS to 274637
