Calgary Police have charged 19 year old Nigel Conner Stimson, of Calgary, in connection with a sexual assault that occurred during the early morning hours on Sunday July 31.
Just after midnight on Sunday, police received a complaint that a woman had been sexually assaulted behind some shrubs at the corner of 17 Ave and Centre St S. When police responded to the area, they found the victim at the scene and ensured that she received immediate medical attention.
The victim had met the suspect earlier in the evening at the Stampede CTrain platform. She was leaving a concert when she allegedly met Stimson.
Later, witnesses heard screams and then saw the suspect fleeing the scene in a southbound direction. Police released a photo and information concerning the attack which lead to several tips called in to investigators.
On Wednesday Aug 3, the Stimson was arrested after he turned himself in at a CPS district office. Nigel Conner Stimson has been charged with one count of sexual assault causing bodily harm and one count of unlawful confinement.
