Man stabbed in downtown brawl

One man was stabbed and one man suffered a concussion in a rumble in downtown Calgary  just after midnight on Tuesday.

20 people were brawling in the 1300 block of 17 Ave S.W. when a police traffic unit patrol came across the fight and called in for assistance.  Several police cars and officers responded to the incident.

When the dust cleared, police found the two victims suffering from serious injuries.  One victim was stabbed and in life-threatening condition and the second victim was suffering from a concussion.  Both men were taken to hospital.

Police arrested four of the fighters but charges have yet to be laid, pending further investigation.  The motive for the fight is still unknown.  Police ask that anyone with any information on this investigation is asked to call the District 1 office at 403-567-6100 or Calgary Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by text, typing the keyword “tttTIPS” to 274637.
