Man runs down bouncer with car after altercation at Red Deer club
A 30 year old man from Edmonton has been charged with 4 charges stemming from an incident at a Red Deer bar during the early morning hours of August 1.
The incident took place at the Lotus Night Club in Red Deer at just after midnight on Monday morning. Police allege that after a fracas with staff, 3 men got into a vehicle and drove at high speed through the parking lot of the club and were aiming the vehicle at the main door where staff and several club patrons were standing. Before the driver sped away, he hit a bouncer from the club. The bouncer received minor injuries in the assault.
30 year old Salah Ali of Edmonton has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon (the car), one count of dangerous driving, one count of obstructing a police officer and one count of criminal code failure to stop at a collision. A 32 year old man from Edmonton, who cannot be identified until all information has been sworn, has also been charged with one count of obstructing a police officer.
Salah Ali has been remanded in custody to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on August 9. The other man was released and will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on September 6.
