Man charged with attempted murder of 11-month old son

A 32-year old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an assault on an 11 month-old baby boy.  The baby was allegedly slashed several times by the man who is the father of the boy.

Police were called to the home in the 1000 block of Cranston Dr S.E. at just after 4 a.m. on Saturday where they quickly arrested the agitated man.  Officers then provided initial first aid to the baby who was suffering from serious slashing wounds.

The baby was taken to hospital by EMS in critical condition and the child is now in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police have spoken to the child’s mother and have determined that she was not at home at the time of the crime.  The identity of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the child.  His first court appearance is scheduled  for August 15.
