Two people dead after car collides with semi-trailer on Highway 22X

Two people are dead after a car ran a stop sign and collided with a semi-trailer Friday morning at the intersection of Highway 22X and Secondary Highway 791.

Just after midnight Friday Strathmore RCMP attended a two vehicle collision south of Indus at the intersection of Highway 22X and Secondary Highway 791.

Police say that a small car southbound on Secondary Highway 791 with two occupants went through a stop sign at Highway 22X and were struck by an eastbound tractor/ trailer unit.

Both occupants of the car died at the scene.

The driver of the semi truck was uninjured.

Alcohol is not suspected as being a factor in the collision and while the investigation remains ongoing, there are no charges pending.

The names of the deceased are not being released at this time pending next of kin notifications.
