69-old woman dead after car hits moose Saturday evening on Highway 1

One woman is dead and another received minor injuries after their car struck a moose Saturday just before midnight in the east bound lane of Highway 1 about 1.5 kms east of highway 40, near Morley.

Around 11:40 p.m. the vehicle was traveling east bound when it struck a moose crossing the road.

The 69-year old female passenger died at the scene. The 34-year old female driver was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

RCMP say names are being with held until next of kin notifications have been completed.
