Calgary Canstruction has raised more than $700,000 for food bank since 2006
The annual Calgary Canstruction fundraiser for the Calgary Food Bank will be on display later this week at the Southcentre mall until March 20.
This year, 15 teams will build structures with canned goods and other non-perishable items. Those structures will then be judged and exhibited to the public before being “de-canstructed” and given to the food bank.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi will again serve as a judge.
The teams will be demonstrating their engineering talents to bring their vision of “Transportation – Getting from Here to There” to life.
Since 2006, Canstruction Calgary has donated over $700,000 in food and funds.
Canstruction Calgary is the local chapter of Canstruction, a global anti-hunger project, founded by the Society for Design Administration, an affiliate organization of the American Insitute of Architects. Founded more than 10 years ago, the event is now held in more than 100 cities around the world.
