Calgary garage explosion in northwest neighbourhood of Royal Oak
Calgary Police have been called in by the Calgary Fire Department to assist in the investigation into a garage explosion in the city’s northwest on Tuesday evening.
Just before 8 p.m., firefighters were called to a home in the 200 block of Royal Oak Heights NW.
When crews arrived, they discovered that the garage door on a two-storey single family home had been blown out by an explosion.
Firefighters searched the home for potential victims and checked for fire inside the home. The Calgary Fire Department reports it is believed that two people were at home at the time of the explosion, but neither were injured in the blast.
As crews surveyed the scene and investigated the blast, it was decided to bring in the police to help with the investigation into the Calgary garage explosion.
After the firefighters deemed the scene was safe, it was been turned over to police for investigation.
