Mark Bitterman facing first degree murder charge

Mark Bitterman is in police custody and will be in court on Friday.

Following an extensive investigation, the RCMP have charged 30-year old Mark Bitterman with first degree murder in the death of Curtis Rangen of Red Deer in early May of this year.

The “K” Division Major Crimes Unit investigated the murder, and along with the Kamloops RCMP, Bitterman was arrested and charged.

On May 6, Red Deer RCMP were called to Rangen’s home after someone checking on him discovered Rangen was deceased.  The Calgary RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in to assist the Red Deer City RCMP with their investigation into the man’s death.

The Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the death of Curtis Rangen was a homicide.

On June 19, Mark William Bitterman was charged with first degree murder.  He remains in police custody and will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Friday, June 21.

The charges against Mark Bitterman have not been proven in a court of law.
