Calgary Lilac Festival returning to 4th street SW
Rain or shine, this Sunday marks the annual return of the Calgary Lilac Festival.
So far Environment Canada has forecasted a sunny day for Calgary’s largest free festival, which will take place on May 26 on its usual route of 4th street SW.
The one day event will kick off with a parade at 10 a.m., led by Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi.
The parade starts at 25 Ave and ends up at 13 Ave.
The event is thirteen blocks long and features more than 500 vendors that feature artisan crafts, imported wares and community organizations.
Tell us what you think of the Canadian oil sands by filling out this brief survey. $2 will be donated to breast cancer research for every completed survey.
There will also be six stages where bands will perform.
A recent new addition to the event programming includes the “Underage Stage” that promotes Alberta’s youth in support of their bright future in music.
Once again buskers will be in full force at the Calgary Lilac Festival.
The festival wraps up at 6 p.m.
Over 125,000 people are expected to come to the Calgary Lilac Festival this weekend.
