Edmonton Police Drug and Gang Enforcement Unit investigation leads to arrests.

Edmonton Police have arrested and charged two suspects and seized almost half a million dollars worth of cocaine in an investigation into an illegal drug network in Edmonton.

On Thursday, Mar. 21, Edmonton Police arrested and charged 30-year old Roger Teixeira and 27-year old Daniel Teixeira in connection with transportation and distribution of illegal drugs in Edmonton.

Noreen Remtulla of the Edmonton Police says officers executed search warrants at two homes in the city where they allegedly found approximately 5.5 Kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of $495,000.  Also allegedly found inside the homes was a 9 mm handgun, 2-22 calibre semi-automatic rifles and $25,000 in cash.

Officers also allegedly found and seized a 2009 BMW, a hydraulic press, gun silencer, brass knuckles and drug paraphernalia.

Roger Teixeira, 30, is facing four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one charge of possession of a loaded handgun,  two counts of carless storage of a fire arm , and two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Daniel Teixeira, 27, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm.

The charges against Roger Teixeira and Daniel Teixeira have not been proven in court.
