Four women in one week have wallets stolen by suspect
Do you know this man? He may be the suspect in a good samaritan scam where he offers to help fix flat tires but steals wallets instead.
In the last two days of July, a man has allegedly robbed four women of their wallets while he pretended to help them fix a flat tire on their cars.
On Monday July 20 and Tuesday July 31, there were four incidents reported to police where women drivers were alerted to a flat tire on their vehicle by the suspect. He then tells the women to put pressure on the hole in the tire while goes to get something out of his vehicle. The man then leaves the scene and the victim realizes her wallet has been stolen.
The incidents occurred on Monday, July 30 at 1 p.m., in the 5100 block of 126 Ave S.E., and at 4 p.m., on the same day in the 16300 block of Somercrest St S.W. The next day, the first reported occurrence of a wallet theft by the suspect is at 12:50 p.m., in the 9800 block of Macleod Trail South and later at 4:30 p.m., in the 3500 block of 32 Ave N.E.
The man is described as being approximately 30 years old and has medium or tanned skin tone. He may be of Hispanic or East Indian descent. He is 5’6″ tall and has black hair and brown eyes and in three of the four reported cases, he was wearing an orange reflective safety vest. He also has an accent.
Calgary Police believe the man may be using a grey car.
The Calgary Police are hoping the public will be able to assist them in identifying the man who they believe is responsible for the four thefts.
