18-year old airlifted to Calgary, but dies in hospital
Richard Williams of Coaldale has died as a result of injuries he sustained in a single vehicle collision east of Lethbridge
Lethbridge RCMP are reporting that 18-year old Richard Leslie Williams III of Coaldale has died from the injuries he sustained in a single vehicle rollover accident just outside of Lethbridge early on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred just after 4 a.m., on Highway 3, east of Range Road 201. The westbound car Williams was driving left the highway and entered the centre median where the car rolled. The vehicle then crossed eastbound traffic and came to rest in the south ditch. Richard Williams was ejected from the car . He suffered serious head injuries in the accident.
Williams along with two 18-year old women who were passengers in the car were taken to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Richard Williams was later transported to Foothills Hospital in Calgary where he has since passed away. The two women were treated for minor injuries.
Constable S. Fyfe of the Lethbridge RCMP says Richard Williams was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
