Fires started in Lions’ Park and City Hall in St. Albert

St Albert arson suspects captured in surveillance camera footage
St. Albert RCMP are hoping the public can assist them in identifying three suspects in three separate arsons in the city of St. Albert on August 16.
Corporal Laurel Kading of the St. Albert RCMP says at about 4:15 a.m., three male suspects started three separate fires in St. Albert near Lions’ Park and City Hall.
It appears that the suspects used gasoline to start a fire at a park bench and garbage can in Lions’ Park . The park bench was completely destroyed by the blaze.
Police believe the three suspects, who were carrying a gerry can, then headed out on the Red Willow Trail system to the pathway behind St. Albert City Hall. Once at City Hall, the three poured gas from the gerry can on a garbage can. They then set the garbage can on fire.
The gerry can also started on fire and the suspect then threw it a short distance away. Corporal Kading says it appears as if two of the culprits may have been singed by the fire.
One of the suspects was riding a small bike and the other two were walking.
The value of the destroyed items is not known at this time.
If you have any information on these fires, please contact the St Albert RCMP at 780 458 7700. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 8477.
