Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import receiver Nik Lewis has signed acontract extension with the team. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Lewis is off to a great start in his ninth season in the CFL and as a member of the Calgary Stampeders. Through six games, he leads the league in receptions (43), receiving yards (484) and touchdowns (seven).
“I’m excited to announce today that Nik Lewis is no longer in the option year of his contract,” said Hufnagel.
“This deal will give Nik the opportunity to play out his career as a member of the Red and White. There isn’t a lot that needs to be said about the importance of Nik to this football team. He is off to a great start in 2012 and we look forward to even more great football from Nik Lewis.”
Lewis is the only Calgary Stampeders receiver to ever post eight consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, having done so each season from 2004-11. His career high in receiving yards is 1,379, which Lewis accomplished in 2005, and is on pace for 1,452 yards this season.
