Lake Louise Fall Festival returns to Banff National Park Sept. 1

| August 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Fall foliage and autumnal activities abound at Lake Louise Fall Festival

The Lake Louise Fall Festival runs from Sept. 1 to 30.

Golden larches and mountain marches are what it’s all about during the Lake Louise Fall Festival which will kick off in Banff National Park Sept. 1.

As the larch trees in Lake Louise bid farewell to summer by turning a beautiful golden hue, visitors to Lake Louise in Banff National Park will not only be treated to nature’s picturesque tapestry of autumnal tints, but will also enjoy an array of activities and special offers in celebration of the season’s arrival.

Centered in Canada’s hiking capital, the third-annual Lake Louise Fall Festival will take place over the course of five weeks as visitors will be welcomed to participate in highline hikes to historic teahouses, photography contests, and classic canoeing adventures, all whilst enjoying discounted rates and culinary specials at participating hotels and restaurants.

Upon completing the challenge you’ll be entered to win the grand prize – a Lake Louise getaway valued at over $1000! The first 350 hikers to complete the challenge will earn a special commemorative gift.

Paddle the Lake Day: September 8

Experience paddling on majestic Lake Louise! Visitors are welcome to bring their own canoe, kayak or stand up paddleboard, rent a canoe or join a voyageur canoe tour on Canada’s iconic turquoise lake. Discover more about where to paddle in the Canadian Rockies, as well as wildlife you might encounter and helpful safety tips. Kids can also make their own miniature paddle for free!

Parks Canada Photo Contest: September 1 – 30

To celebrate the third-annual Lake Louise Fall Festival, Parks Canada is launching a photo contest which runs until September 30, 2012 and includes two themes: outdoor adventure, and colours & landscapes. The outdoor adventure category encourages visitors to photograph their favourite park activities such as hiking, biking, or camping whilst submissions to the colours & landscapes category should emphasize brilliant autumn scenes like the famous golden yellow larches.
