Getting to and from Edmonton Folk Music Festival
Some new rules this year
If you’re heading out to the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, there are some things you need to know to make the most of your folk fest experience.
If you are planning on driving to the festival, be warned that there is no on-site parking available during the duration of the festival. All parking restrictions will be strictly enforced in the communities of Strathearn and Bonnie Doon for the festival. All illegally parked vehicles will be tagged and towed and patrons are reminded to obey all signs.
As parking is restricted, festival-goers are encouraged to use ETS’ shuttle service to get to and from the event site. In addition, the Festival provides a supervised bike lock-up daily for festival goers, which is located near the main gate on 97 Avenue.
This year, there will be no passenger pick-up at end of the day. In order to ensure the safety of pedestrians, private vehicles will not be permitted to enter the Cloverdale community for passenger pick up, starting 90 minutes before the end of show each day. Festival goers are encouraged to make alternate arrangements for pick up at the end of the show, or to take transit.
Travel delays can be expected on 98 Avenue through the Cloverdale community and on Connors Road for the duration of the festival. Also, there will be an increase in pedestrian traffic in and around the festival site. Motorists are asked to drive with care near the festival site.
During the festival, there will be a direct ETS Shuttle Service available to festival goers from August 9-12. Buses will pick up and drop off passengers at the south east corner of the U of A Butterdome at 87 Ave and 114 St, and the Folk Music Festival Site on Cloverdale Hill Road.
If you tell the attendant you’re heading to the Folk Music Festival, parking at the University is $5 per day
Buses run continuously on a 30-minute schedule on:
- Thursday from 3:30 – 11:30pm
- Friday from 3:30pm - 1am
- Saturday from 8:30am – 1am
- Sunday from 8:30am – 11:30pm During the last hour of service each day, buses will be parked on Cloverdale Hill Road beside the festival site for take away service.
Regular ETS fares apply. ETS passes, tickets and transfers are valid for payment.
Finally, festival-goers are reminded that pets are not permitted into the festival and pet owners are encouraged to leave their animals at home while attending the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. Visit the Edmonton Humane Society website for more information about keeping your pet safe, happy and healthy this summer.
