2012 Edmonton Bloom Awards announced
If your green thumb needs some inspiration, check out the yard at 12044 57 St in Edmonton. The homeowners are the winners of the 2012 Edmonton Bloom Awards Best Front Yard.
Second place honours went to a home in the Rio Terrace community. The house is located at 7306 155 St. The third place home is at 9603 96 Ave and is located in the community of Cloverdale.
“The Edmonton in Bloom awards are an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the exceptional people who help make Edmonton more beautiful,” said Heather McRae, Branch Manager of Neighbourhoods, Parks and Community Recreation. “These awards not only foster a sense of community spirit in our neighbourhoods, they also contribute to a more vibrant and liveable Edmonton.”
The yards were judged based on textures, colours, landscape features and overal character of the space. Judges noticed that an overall theme among the nominees this year was a large and diverse display of beautiful blooms.
The Community Garden Award went to Parkallen Community Garden. The award was presented by Sustainable Food Edmonton. Dave Ward, the owner of Spruce Up Tree Services was the winner of the Urban Forest Award for his work in Edmonton with community and trees.

Edmonton’s Front Yards in Bloom program recognizes residents for their beautiful front yards and contributions that make their communities more attractive, green and livable.
