City of Calgary civic holiday schedule for facilities and services

Complete schedule for City of Calgary

So far, City Hall gets a passing grade.

City of Calgary facilities will be closed or following modified hours during the holiday long weekend.

City of Calgary Administrative Offices

All administrative offices will be closed on Monday, August 6, 2012 and will re-open on Tuesday, August 7, 2012.

Calgary Transit

Calgary Transit will provide a Sunday level of service on the holiday, Monday, August 6.

Residential blue, black and green cart collection

Residential collection schedules for blue, black and green carts are not affected by the Heritage Day holiday.

Community Recycling Depots

Collection at Community Recycling Depots is not affected by the Heritage Day holiday.

City of Calgary Landfills

All City of Calgary landfills – East Calgary, Spyhill and Shepard – will be open from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Heritage Day, Monday, August 6.

City of Calgary Animal Services Centre

2201 Portland Street S.E.Saturday, Aug. 4: Open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.Sunday, Aug. 5: Open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.Monday, Aug. 6: ClosedTues., Aug. 7: Open 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

All Arenas are closed.

City of Calgary Athletic Parks

All Athletic Parks are closed, except for any advanced bookings.

City of Calgary Aquatics and Fitness Centres

All Aquatics and Fitness Centres are closed on Monday, August 6.

Southland Leisure Centre

Open Monday, Aug. 6 (stat holiday hours) 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Regular admission applies.

Village Square Leisure Centre

Open Monday, Aug. 6 (stat holiday hours) 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Regular admission applies.

City of Calgary Art Centres

Wildflower Arts Centre will be closed Aug. 4 – 6, for the Heritage Day weekend.

North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will be closed Aug. 4 – 6, for the Heritage Day weekend.

City of Calgary Parks

Bowness Park

Park open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., 7 days/weekThe Miniature train, mini-golf and spray park are closed for park redevelopment. Inglewood Bird Sanctuary Park hours: sunrise to sunset year-round.The Nature Centre is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. including statutory holidays.

Devonian Gardens

Open daily from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Other Facilities

Fort Calgary

Monday, August 6 – Open 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Admission:FREE

Celebrate our Heritage with a FREE fun filled day. Enjoy live music, be amazed by magic shows at noon and 1:30 p.m., visit live horses from the Fort Calgary Wheel and Runner Association, tour our beautiful community garden, create a family tree, and go home with a balloon animal and painted face. There’s also lots to learn in our interpretive centre, and at our temporary exhibit ‘Before the Stampede’. Activities run from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Deane House

The Deane House will be closed on Monday, August 6, 2012.

Heritage Park Historical Village

Open 9:30 a.m – 5 p.m.

This Heritage Day, Heritage Park will be filled with the sound of music, historic activities and plain good old-fashioned fun. The first 500 paid admission guests will receive a complimentary pancake breakfast before 10:30 a.m.!

Catch a live opera performance by the Cowtown Opera Company in the world’s only log opera house, the Canmore Opera House, or sit on the lawn and listen to the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra perform in the Didsbury Bandstand.

Don’t miss barn board branding, old-fashioned family games and demonstrations from Bow Valley Calligraphy. Looking for a little more action? Kick-up your heels and try line dancing with the Chinook Country Line Dancers.

A traditional Afternoon Tea will be served in the Wainwright Hotel tea-room at 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets for the tea are available by calling 403-268-8500.

Calgary Zoo

Gates open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, (Zoo closes at 6 p.m.).

TELUS Spark

Open daily 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
