Two-year old killed by vehicle in Hinton Saturday night

Police: speed and alcohol not involved

Switzer Drive in Hinton, Alta.

A two-year old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle late Saturday night in Hinton, Alta.

Around 11 p.m. Hinton RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Switzer Drive in Hinton where a -two year old child had been reportedly struck by a moving vehicle.

Hinton RCMP and Hinton Emergency Medical personal responded immediately to the collision. The female victim was transported to the Hinton General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver and the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene until police arrived and have been identified, according to the RCMP.

Investigator believe speed and alcohol were not factors in this collision.

At this time, Hinton RCMP will not be releasing any names involving this incident as the investigation is still on going.

Hinton is a city of 10,000 284 kilometres west of Edmonton.
