Fire damages Red Deer business, causes $100,000 in damages
A Red Deer business sustained severe smoke and fire damage during a fire at the premises on July 12, 2012.
The blaze broke out just after midnight at Bay 160 at 6046 47 Ave., in a light industrial area just south of Parkland Mall.
Wes Van Bavel, Fire Prevention Officer for Red Deer Emergency Services says an alarm company notified the owner of the business who in turn called 9-1-1.
When crews arrived, they were met by heavy smoke that was coming through an overhead door. Despite the smoke the fire was quickly put out, but the building did suffer severe smoke and fire damage.
So far, investigators are saying that the cause of the fire was accidental and that damage estimates exceed $100,000.
Fortunately, there was no one inside the building when the fire started.
