James Kurylo facing multiple charges after EPS officers struck at the scene of injury collision
69-year old James Kurylo is facing multiple charges after allegedly striking two Edmonton Police Service officers with his car while the police wer investigating a collision on Sunday morning.
At about 2:30 a.m., Edmonton Police traffic officers were investigating an injury collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle near 61 Ave and 111 St. Scott Pattison of the Edmonton Police Service says officers had blocked off 61 Ave to allow for the investigation.
While police were working inside the traffic command post, an eastbound vehicle traveling on 61 Ave drove around the barricades and stopped at a red light on 111 St.
The two EPS officers approached the vehicle and instructed the driver, James Kurylo, to turn around. Kurylo allegedly became belligerent and while attempting to drive off, allegedly struck the two officers with his vehicle.
One of the officers is in hospital and is undergoing ankle surgery today. The other officer sustained injuries to his foot.
James Kurylo was detained at the scene and is facing charges including one count of obstruction, resisting arrest and assault with a weapon and two counts of dangerous driving.
