Edmonton Police are looking for a suspect after an attack on Edmonton bike trail
Police are looking for a man who assaulted a woman while she was riding on a bike trail just west of the Royal Alberta Museum on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred just before 6 p.m., as the woman was heading towards the river on the bike trail in the area of 102 Ave and Churchill Crescent.
Luckily, the woman did not sustain any injuries in the attack. She was able to call police immediately and the area was searched by patrol members, members of the Canine Unit and Air – 1. The suspect was not found.
Edmonton Police are concerned about this latest attack and that the man may have assaulted other women this year. Women have also been assaulted in the Gold Bar, McNally, Dawson and Muttart Conservatory areas of the city. In all of the attacks, the suspect was riding a bicycle on the bike paths when he grabbed his victims from behind.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man with an average build. He is between 5’10″ – 6′ tall and is between 30-45 years old. He has shoulder length, wavy, light brown hair. During the most recent attack, he was seen wearing shorts and a solid brown t-shirt with yellow stripes. He may also be wearing a bike helmet or a hat.
Anyone with information that could help identify the suspect is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
