The driver who was allegedly involved in the fatal hit and run accident on Anthony Henday Drive on Wednesday, June 13, has turned himself in to police.
The man was accompanied by his lawyer when he turned himself into EPS at Police Headquarters on Thursday, June 14.
Police have now recovered the black 2008 Porsche Cayenne SUV that was allegedly involved in the fatal hit and run on Anthony Henday near 62 Ave. It was found in the Riverbend area and was heavily damaged.
Edmonton Police are hoping anyone who witnessed the collision or activities of the driver before and after the collision will come forward. Police are seeking witnesses to the following:
- the hit-and-run on Anthony Henday southbound, near 62 Avenue, just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012
- a black coloured Porsche Cayenne traveling southbound on the Henday, just south of Whitemud Drive, shortly before 11:30 p.m.
- a black coloured Porsche Cayenne (with front right damage) traveling westbound on 62 Avenue, west of the Anthony Henday, or southbound on 199 Street, shortly after 11:30 p.m
46-year old Andrew Green was killed in the hit and run collision. He had stopped to help another driver change a tire and was placing traffic alert triangles on the shoulder of the freeway when he was struck and killed instantly.
Charges are pending against the 36-year-old male driver and the investigation still in progress.
