Christopher Huhn of Red Deer succumbs to injuries in two-vehicle collision

31-year old Christopher Huhn of Red Deer died on the morning of Thursday, June 28, after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 40 Ave and 32 St.

Corporal Kathe Deheer of the Red Deer City RCMP says at the time of the accident, 6:45 a.m., the traffic lights at the intersection were not functioning, which made the intersection a four-way stop.

Police believe the 32-year old man driving a Chevrolet Equinox was heading west on 32 Ave when it collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Christopher Huhn.  Huhn was northbound on 40 Ave and possibly making a lefthand turn on to 32 St when the collision occurred.

The driver of the Equinox then struck a tree on the northwest side of the intersection.

Both drivers were taken to Red Deer Hospital.  Christopher Huhn succumbed to his injuries in hospital and the driver of the SUV was treated and released from hospital with minor injuries.

Corporal Deheer says Red Deer City RCMP are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone who witnessed the collision and have not spoken to police to contact the Red Deer City RCMP at 403 343 5575.

The intersection at 40 Ave and 32 St was closed to allow for the investigation into the crash, but has since re-opened.
