Music for the soul – food for the hungry!
One big musical event to culminate the Food Bank's Husky Help the Hungry Week.
Calgary Civic Symphony presents “Hoch Romantisch – A 9th for the Hungry” on June 10 at 2.30 p.m. at Jack Singer Concert Hall with Music Director Rolf Bertsch.
The concent features Rückert Lieder, Gustav Mahler’s greatest song cycle, sung by Calgary mezzo-soprano Jacqui Lynn Fidlar, and Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare by Richard Strauss.
Fidlar studied vocal at the University of Calgary and the University of Toronto Opera Division and has won many awards and scholarships throughout the world.
Members of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary Youth Orchestra, Calgary Concert Band, and Red Deer Symphony Orchestra will join the Symphony to form more than 110 players for Bruckner’s monumental 9th Symphony, performed for only the second time in Calgary’s history, to support the Calgary Food Bank.
The event will close the Calgary Food Bank’s Husky Help the Hungry Week. VIP tickets to the Gala event are available through calgaryfoodbank.akaraisin.com/ninthforthehungry at $100 each and allows ticket holders and their guest to enjoy the Donor Appreciation Gala following the concert.
Tickets are $15 and free for children aged 6 and via (403) 670-5430 or at the door. For more information, call (403) 670-5430 or visit calgarycivicsymphony.ca.
